McNerney’s Million Dollar Special Interest Earmark
Jerry McNerney Promised to Change Washington’s Corruption, Instead Washington’s Corruption Changed McNerney.

Jerry McNerney got elected to Congress by promising to fight the corrupt special interests that infect Washington. McNerney promised to end the wasteful earmark process that costs taxpayers billions of dollars every year. Instead of changing Washington’s culture of corruption, Washington’s corruption changed Jerry McNerney.

When Jerry McNerney isn’t hanging out with his liberal, anti-war extremist friends MoveOn.org and Code Pink, he’s doing their bidding on the floor of the US Congress. McNerney voted against funding our troops, and then bragged about it when meeting with his liberal extremist friends Code Pink.

Jerry McNerney doesn’t support taxpayer funding for our troops, but he does support taxpayer funding for special interest earmarks. Not only did Jerry McNerney break his promise to fight the special interests, he helped his special interest friends turn a $9,500 investment into a $1,000,000 profit. All at taxpayer expense.

As a USA Today earmark expose revealed, a special interest contractor “gave McNerney $2,000 — including $1,000 that two days before the freshmen Democrat requested an earmark for EDO's facility. The defense bill contained $800,000 for EDO.”

That’s right. McNerney took money from New York-based special interests and then just two days later requested an $800,000 taxpayer funded earmark for the same company. McNerney has learned Washington’s special interest ways; he just isn’t very good at hiding it.

Just visit the nonpartisan Sunlight Foundation’s website, EarmarkWatch.org, to see for yourself how Jerry McNerney requested a million dollars for his special interest pals. Then, click over to the Federal Election Commission’s website to see proof of his campaign contributions from special interests. $7,500 here. and $2,000 there.

In these tough economic times, when homeowners face foreclosure, workers fight outsourcing, and everyone struggles with the high price of gas, wouldn’t it be nice to turn a $9,500 investment into a $1,000,000 profit? If you are a special interest crony of Jerry McNerney, you can.

McNerney Brags to Code Pink about Cutting Off Money for Our Troops

“After an Iraq war veteran unsupportive of McNerney’s vote questioned him about the lack of troop funding, McNerney replied, “we are involved in the middle of a religious war, the longer we stay, the more violence will take place.”

Jerry McNerney’s Broken Promise: “Commitment to Change the Way Washington Works”

“I came to Washington committed to being open and accountable to Californians – and to change the way business is done here,” said Rep. McNerney. “For too long, the earmark process has been shrouded in secrecy, allowing lawmakers to fund expensive boondoggle projects that benefit the special interests, as opposed to the public interest.”

“Some PACs have changed their donation patterns in more than one district. The political committee for the EDO Corp., for example, gave $6,000 last year to then-congressman Richard Pombo, R-Calif., who lost to Democrat Jerry McNerney. This year, the company's PAC gave McNerney $2,000 — including $1,000 that two days before the freshmen Democrat requested an earmark for EDO's facility in his district, records show. The defense bill contained $800,000 for EDO.”
