Jerry McNerney: As Liberal As America's Only Socialist
Jerry America's Oldest Liberal Lobbying Group Confirms McNerney To the Left of Obama, Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry
9/26/08

Two years ago, Congressional candidate Jerry McNerney campaigned against then Congressman Richard Pombo, arguing that the incumbent was “too extreme” for the 11th Congressional District. Little did voters know that when they traded in Pombo for McNerney, they were replacing him with a liberal extremist.

For average voters and even astute political observers, political scorecards are a quick and effective snapshot of a politician’s record and ideology. Scorecards are effective for two key reasons: 1) they are created with a specific philosophical purpose and 2) they are designed to distinguish politicians from other politicians. Interest groups want to know where each elected official stands with their ideology.

The rules on scorecards apply equally to both sides of the political spectrum. Code Pink and MoveOn.org left-wing radicals want to single out the Joe Lieberman/ Reagan Democrats as much as the Flash Report likes to isolate the RINO Republicans.

That’s why it was so enlightening when the Flash Report reviewed an independent analysis of Jerry McNerney’s scorecards from various political groups across the political spectrum. If you glance at Jerry McNerney’s rankings from liberal special interest groups, it reveals why Jerry McNerney is so busy catering to his friends at MoveOn.org and Code Pink.

Jerry McNerney is more liberal than Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and even Ted Kennedy. McNerney is as liberal as America's only Socialist, Vermont's Bernie Sanders. But, don’t take our word for it. Take the word of “America’s oldest independent liberal lobbying organization.”

According to the 2007 scorecard from the liberal special interest group, Americans for Democratic Action, Jerry McNerney received the second highest possible score, a 95% out of a possible 100%.

That puts Jerry McNerney to the left of the following California liberals:

Barbara Lee
Maxine Waters
Howard Berman
Henry Waxman
Barbara Boxer

Lest you think we are taking the scorecard out of context, here is how Americans for Democratic Action describes themselves.
“In the spirit of the New Deal and ADA founders Eleanor Roosevelt, renowned economist John Kenneth Galbraith, and former Senator and Vice President Hubert Humphrey we lobby through coalition partnerships, through direct advocacy, and through the media.”
Their newsletter even describes how the scorecard separated the far left extremists from the blue-dog Democrats.
“The votes selected cover a full spectrum of domestic, foreign, economic, military, environmental and social issues. We try to select votes which display sharp liberal/conservative contrasts. An effort is made to choose procedural votes: amendments, motions to table, or votes on rules for debate. These votes can reveal true attitudes obscured in the final votes.”
Left of Barbara Boxer, Barak Obama and Ted Kennedy. More extreme than Barbara Lee or Maxine Waters!?

First, Jerry McNerney takes financial support from MoveOn.org. Then, he entertains Code Pink’s impeachment demands. Next, he brags to anti-war extremists that he cut off funds to our troops. Now, we have empirical, independent proof from “America’s oldest independent liberal lobbying organization” that Jerry McNerney is as liberal as America’s only Socialist.

This November, voters will have to decide if McNerney’s extremism on the left is what they had in mind for their Congressional representation.
