One Term is Enough Exclusive: McNerney Received Thousands of Dollars in Wall Street Campaign Contributions Prior to Bailout
Possible Explanation for $700 Billion Bailout Vote
10/24/08
Just weeks after Jerry McNerney voted for the $700 billion bailout of rich Wall Street corporations, campaign contribution reports from the Federal Election Commission reveal that Jerry McNerney received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Wall Street executives prior to his bailout vote. McNerney’s acceptance of Wall Street campaign contributions before voting on the $700 billion bailout bill demonstrates a consistent pattern of questionable ethical behavior involving McNerney swapping campaign cash for votes.
“Jerry McNerney has a clear pattern of doling out billion dollar favors to millionaire special interests,” explained Jon Fleischman of One Term Is Enough.com. “We have new proof that Jerry McNerney received thousands of dollars from Wall Street executives prior to his corporate bailout vote.”
A short summary of McNerney’s Wall Street contributions include:
- $500.00 John Howard, CEO of Bear Stearns, 9/21/07 Summary page of contribution.
- $1,000.00 Fannie Mae PAC, 06/25/07
- $500.00 Stephen Koch, AIG Global Realty Portfolio Manager, 5/14/08
- $500.00 Robin Nuestein, Goldman/Sachs Managing Director, 10/23/07
- $250.00 Nayeem Quershi, Lehman Bros Sr. VP, 11/05/07
- $250.00 Gregory Weiss, Lehman Bros financial advisor 01/08/08
Earlier this year, One Term is Enough uncovered an earmark scandal involving the New York based EDO Corporation. McNerney took campaign contributions from EDO Corporation and then just two days later requested an $800,000 taxpayer funded earmark for the same company.
ONE TERM IS ENOUGH is chronicling Jerry McNerney’s series of broken promises and hypocritical stances. McNerney’s list of offenses include bragging about cutting off funding our troops to left wing extremists, swapping campaign contributions for special interest earmarks, and a voting record as liberal as America’s only Socialist.
